Nyx and the apotheosis of the night
Oil on canvas - 120 x 90 cm

In Greek mythology Nyx is the night, beautiful, mysterious and honest. She was born from Chaos, the space that preceded the Gods, and at that time everything was darkness, everything was the kingdom of Nyx. She engendered by herself, without male intervention, Destiny, Perdition, Death, Sleep, Old Age, Pain, Deception, Deserved Punishment, Discord, Friendship, Mockery, Dreams and spirits of destruction and death. His sister Hemera, the Day, lived in Tartarus (deep abyss and prison of the Titans) next to Nyx where both work in collaboration, but under much discomfort and tension. Such was the pressure between the two, that when one reached the dwelling the other retired. In this simple and poetic way, the Greeks explained day and night.
